Byography



Slobodan Maldini is a Serbian architect, artist, writer and theoretician of architecture. He is the most significant representative of the alternative architecture in Serbia today. Some of his early works contained eclectic references influenced by the ideas of postmodern architecture in America. 1978 studied Palladian architecture in Vicenza, Italy at professor James S. Ackermann (Harvard University) and Wolfgang Lotz (Cambridge, Mass.) Graduated architecture 1980 in Belgrade and performed postgraduate studies at his mentor, Austrian architect Bogdan Bogdanović. From 1982 he was professor assistant at the Faculty of architecture in Prishtina, Kosovo. 2002-2008 he lectured Architectural design at the Faculty of Technical Science, Department of Architecture, Novi Sad, Serbia.

 



Exhibits
1985 on the invitation of the international jury Maldini exhibited at the famous Paris Biennale, together with the icons of architecture: Aldo Rossi, Tadao Ando, Mario Botta, Ralph Erskine, Norman Foster, Frenk O' Gehry, Fumihiko Maki, Raphael Moneo, Murphy/ Jahn company, Renzo Piano, Zaha Hadid, Richard Rogers and others. On Paris Bienale Maldini presented his Monument to Unity in Klina, Kosovo.
During the period 1978-2011 Maldini exhibited in dozens of single and collective exhibitions in Serbia, as well as in many galleries of the World (Paris, Rome, New York, Bern, Tokyo, Wasaw, Graz, Volgograd).

Slobodan Maldini (r.1956) Arhitekta, umetnik i teoretičar arhitekture. Značajan predstavnik alternativne arhitekture u Srbiji. 1975-85. studirao arhitekturu u Beogradu i Vičenci, kod prof. Džejmsa Akermana i Volfganga Loca. Njegovi rani radovi sadrže eklektiče elemente postmoderne arhitekture 80-tih. 1985. učestvovao na Pariskom bijenalu sa ikonama arhitekture: Rosijem, Andom, Botom, Fosterom, Gerijem, Hadidovom. Napisao "Enciklopediju arhitekture" u 7 tomova, sa preko 40.000 odrednica. Među ostalim izdanjima su: "Senke bogova", "Zimska priča", "Rečnik brendiranja", "Porno i pank neoarhitektura".

Slobodan Maldini wrote 12 professional books on architecture and dozens of scientific papers.
In the period 1998-2011 Maldini wrote his lifetime masterpiece “Encyclopedia of architecture” in seven volumes, with over 40.000 entries and 100.000 illustrations.
